Let’s Watch the Sunset

Like a hungry lion, work gorged down your time
And left your self esteem slashed, your body drained.
This fierce beast with claws dripping blood and slime
Ripped through my day, its grip over me reigned.

Frustration places his throne on our worn souls
As we forge and eat an evening meal.
Daily the lion waits behind our set goals
Claws tear our will, the blood spilt is our zeal.

So, dear, let’s sit on the back steps and rest.
Push your fragrant soft hair against my face.
Let my arms embrace you, as we face west
And watch the sun finish its daily race.

Its wondrous rays warm the earth and our hearts.
Its hues soothes the clouds and our inmost parts.

William, we have felt the claws of that same lion, draining strength and peace. The simple moments of restoration are very important. I could feel along with this.

William, you twoke well; line 8 is right on.
Revival comes in many levels and forms -- watching the sunset, a revival meeting, and I hope my after-supper nap qualifies, because I still have some preparation to do for Sunday School.

Uh-oh, Tobie just planted one in my head, along with the memory of late 1961, in the back seat with first girlfriend (No, I was a nice guy.) while her parents drove us to a skiing weekend near Cadillac, Michigan. So now the Tokens play in my head, with some pretty good memories. Maybe next sunset, I'll think of her, but without regret because now there's Judy. Maybe the lion will sleep a while longer.

And this brings to mind the Muffets, the one they did with a group of fuzzy fellows singing about the Lion sleeping. The lion couldn't sleep for all the ruckus and ran them off.

So, a fuzzy muffet lion is now hiding behind the portals of the hospital, waiting good naturedly to tell us workers to quit complaining and get busy. If we don't get started soon, the sun will be setting and... Sleep

Well, it's kinda like the fuzzy and cute little hunger monster than throws the food temptations in our path as seen on that recent TV commercial...

Anyway, the Lion Sleeps Tonight song is one of my favorites of the more light hearted ones.
