Why I have been out of sorts lately

I have found myself a little impatient and short of temper at home over the past month.

I spoke to my wife's sister's Mom, Carol and told her that I just didn't know what was going on with me. I told her that I had been a little short with folks lately and seem to let everything get under my skin.


As I was talking, my mind began to work on this problem. Then it hit me. Change! It wasn't retirement and having extra time to do things or even the number of things I had found to do.

I blurted out, "Change! That's what is going on. My schedule was set and now I really don't have one. My life was structured and now the structure is gone."

Carol agreed. She said the same thing happened to her when she quit working.

I think we need some kind of structure and some kind of knowledge of where we fit into the world now. I still want to be useful, but I want to go in one direction and meet a new set of obtainable goals. If I am going to take some time for me in this retired time, I need to feel that it is okay and a part of my new non-schedule schedule.
