Lol, I dunno about writing anything. College classes start on March 30. Looks like everything is a go for VA benefits and everything finally.
The whole process of getting my benefits has been an education in and of itself. I'll be taking a math and english course, I should be plenty busy. I may stop in for help from all you proficient english people

English and Math? :-)
Charlie, I'm not bad in English but my college minor was math, so if help in that can be transmitted electronically, maybe I'm a resource. Do you have an IM name?

Hi, Charlie
I have been so busy with retirement, but have finally decided to just relax and enjoy life for a day.
With that thought, I came to our new site to enjoy it rather than to "work" it.
Anyway, when I came in just for fun, I discovered that I had never checked certain posts. Shame on me!
So, I just want to say that I am glad you are here and hope you enjoy your visits.
I love math and English, by the way. I used math a lot in my Navy field as a Sonar Technician. I was a Sonar operator, but my main job was Sonar, Missile Firing Computer, and auxilary equipment electronics Technician.
In Navy Training Schools, I learned math as it applied to electricity and electronics, all the way to calculus that was electronic orientated. However, when I went for my college AA degree, I took a lot of Sociology, history, and English courses. My goal for life after the military was to become a minister, so I tried to tailor my degree towards tools for the ministry. And, of course, I loved English and History, so I splurged a bit. It was like college ice cream!
Though I loved math, I only took it to the College Advanced Algebra level. My wife recently completed the College Beginning Calculus and is now taking Calculus! I watch her do her homework with envy! But she found some great help on line. One place is called "Cool Math" and the other, "Purple math". She says she likes cool math best because it is laid out in a what to learn sequence whereas Purple math is more of an alphabetical arrangement.

math and english and class, oh my!
William, I'm glad to learn more about your education, including the considerable Navy component. My college major was physics, but I was able to go from there to Garrett (a sound Methodist seminary) with only a two-credit sociology course to make up. My first-term roommate, from Harvard, majored in biological sciences, and one man on our floor majored in forestry.
Charlie, although I'd like to see written compositions from you, I understand, and I want to be part of another set of friends in your life, your online buddies. How old are the kids now? (Or maybe just tell us birth years because age keeps changing ;-))
